Strix Leviathan Raises $1.625 Million in Seed Round Funding
Strix Leviathan, a new Seattle startup led by Jesse Proudman that has “created a cryptocurrency trading and management service for enterprises and institutions,” has announced a USD 1.625 million seed round from several well-known contributors — including Joe Montana, Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin, Chris McCoy, Kirby Winfield, and Steve Hall. According to Geek Wire, Liquid 2 Ventures, Joe Montana’s San Francisco-based firm, led the round; while Founders’ Co-op, Future/Perfect Ventures, and 9Mile Labs also participated.
AirAsia Considering ICO to Revamp Loyalty Program
AirAsia, a low-cost airline in Southeast Asia, is considering an ICO to create a blockchain-based loyalty program. According to TechCrunch, AirAsia’s CEO, Tony Fernandes, believes that the airline’s loyalty program points “can be easily transferred to the blockchain.” AirAsia has approximately 65 million registered customers.
Anheuser-Busch Participates in Blockchain-Powered Global Shipping Pilot Program
The parent company of Anheuser-Busch is participating in a blockchain pilot program for global shipping use cases. According to CoinDesk, the technology is developed by Accenture. The pilot involved Anheuser-Busch and other companies using the technology for 12 real-world shipments — “all of which were sent to a different jurisdiction that each carried its own particular regulatory requirements.” Accenture claimed that the results of the pilot program “confirmed that blockchain can reduce operating costs and increase supply chain visibility.”
