Q&A with Lior Motilsky, Vectoraic CEO
Paxtradings: For those who are not familiar with Vectoraic, can you explain what it is, and what the team aims to accomplish?
Motilsky: At its core, Vectoraic uses blockchain technology to deploy a road and traffic prediction system that can be implemented in autonomous vehicles. Our goal is to continue developing and testing our already functional MVP, and turn it into a scalable, enterprise system for driverless vehicles. With our team’s background in UAV (Unmanned Autonomous Vehicles) development for both the Israeli and U.S. military, we were able to make some great breakthroughs in V2X technology that we believe will dramatically improve the safety and efficiency of self driving cars.
Vectoraic operates on the belief that true safety lies in predicting and eliminating hazardous situations well in advance. While most current solutions focus on visibility or alternative technologies such as radar or sensors, these methods are designed only to prevent accidents in real time, which is often too late.
Paxtradings: How does the Vectoraic token (VT) function within the platform and why is it needed?
Motilsky: The construction of Vectoraic blockchain ecosystem is based on the big data collected by the Vectoraic OS. This entire platform will enable us to provide technical and data support for enterprises. Vectoraic adopts the underlying structure of graphene, and records data collected
by Vectoraic OS through a public chain. Users (passengers) can use a shared unmanned travel platform (Vectoraic Sharing) to load Vectoraic OS unmanned vehicles with VT.
Meanwhile, Vectoraic OS acquires users’ unmanned vehicle and other behavioral data. Users (drivers) can buy and sell unmanned vehicles carrying Vectoraic OS on the unmanned vehicle trading platform through the VT, enjoy full transparency through the Vectoraic sharing car, and can also get the full performance report of the car free of charge through the unmanned open platform (BaaS) and better understand the real situation of the car.
Paxtradings: Your whitepaper mentions that your technology has already been in some applications with the Israeli military. Can you tell us more about that?
Motilsky: Vectoraic owns the autopilot hardware system for an Israeli military prototype. Autonomous vehicles are already being used in the field to navigate difficult terrain. With our team’s relationship with the Israeli military, we continue to see this as one of the key strategic partnerships for Vectoraic moving forward.
Paxtradings: Can you describe the differences between the Vectoraic autonomous vehicle hardware and that of the competitors like Uber and Google? How can Vectoraic achieve the same level of precision and safety with such small components?
Motilsky: Vectoraic provide a more cost efficient solution, 90% lower than the current market price. Google, Uber, GM, and Intel’s hardware cost is between $25,000 and $80,000 USD. The total cost of Vectoraic is only around $2,500 USD because of our ability to use spatial mapping relying on our patented V2X technology. This tech reduces a driverless car’s dependendency for on-board hardware and allows us to significantly reduce costs.
Moreover, the use of military-grade radars for the first time in world-wide autonomous driving technology: Class-phased array radar, breakthrough technology, the radar without rotation, greatly improve image processing speed, smaller than the Google Car Radar, more beautiful, able to within 300 meters for all pedestrians and 360-degree full-range vehicle detection, the reaction speed is 100 times faster than Google’s car radar.
Paxtradings: Can you tell us about your experience with Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs)? How does it translate into the Vectoraic project?
Motilsky: I was one of the founders of the Israel UAV Defense Forces unit, and after my military service, I worked on the development of UAV systems in the Israeli industrials. I founded a company that deals with the development of UAV in the U.S. for special missions and I was the engineering manager at an aeronautics company, which was one of the biggest companies in Israel for UAV a few years ago. I’ve also worked on unmanned vehicles for the Israel IDF for special missions. This includes drones, cars, and fix-wings UAV.
We took the same technologies and ideas from the UAV, such as auto-tracking targets that we can see the threat of and focused on them, instead of west processing power to analyze 360° around the car for the few milliseconds.
Paxtradings: What is your goal to sell the platform/technology to enterprises? Are you targeting automobile manufacturers, autonomous vehicle technology companies, governments and militaries, or some combination of these potential customers?
Motilsky: Vectoraic is currently the most likely project to achieve automatic driving technology Level 4. Its core technology has been patented in the U.S., and the software patent number is PCT/IL2018/050085. Vectoraic technology has been applied to the ground in the Israeli military field, and the next step will be to establish a laboratory at the Wiseman Institute and set up an R&D base in Guangzhou, China.
At present, the technology on the market can only detect visible objects within a certain range, but the revolutionary technology of Vectoraic is that it can receive data between transmission devices (such as mobile phones), sensors and cameras to perceive, predict risk areas and send early warning signals that may collide.
Paxtradings: Can you tell us more about your strategic partnership with Shenma Vehicles?
Motilsky: Shenma is a manufacturer of large vehicles in China. Some of these vehicles include buses and construction or logistics rigs that would be significantly cheaper to operate autonomously. We are in the early stages of working with Shenma to potentially begin introducing Vectoriac technology to their manufacturing.
Paxtradings: There has been some negative publicity in the past regarding driverless vehicles in the United States. What are you concerns for public opinion and mass adoption of the technology?
Motilsky: There is plenty of media and market speculation surrounding recent accidents involving autonomous vehicles. As with any major transformative technology, there will always be some people who are apprehensive to adopt. However, the statistics are undeniable on human-caused car accidents. Close to 90 percent of motor vehicle crashes are caused by some form of human error. With Vectoraic, we aim to improve the limited technology that’s already in the market and creating a lot of overblown negative media coverage
Paxtradings: As a non-Vectoraic question, we like to ask for unique predictions for the ICO and cryptocurrency space in the future. Where do you see both in the next 3–5 years?
Motilsky: ICOs and cryptocurrencies are an excellent way to open the door to investors who otherwise couldn’t participate in projects they believe in. Even though the space is very immature at this point, we believe there will be enough great projects built on the back of token sales that it will eventually lead to a legitimate pathway for financing.
The main ICO will begin in Q2 2018 and will end in Q3 2018. There are a total of 825,000,000 Vectoraic tokens (VT) available during the main ICO, representing 25% of the total VT supply. A hard cap of 50,000,000 USD is set for this period.

Vectoraic is an ERC20 token, so it’s important that contributors use ERC20 compatible wallets to send funds to the ICO smart contract, and to receive the Vectoraic tokens.
